Being the first program that all developers inevitably write, I thought it appropriate that this be my first blog post. I wanted to welcome everyone to this blog and wish anyone reading this — developer, friend, or aspiring coder — a good evening.
At some point I will post detailing my journey into the realm of code, but as a brief introduction I will simply say that I have been a developer for just over a year now and have discovered a career that has ignited the fires of passion within me. Cliched? Maybe. But it’s true. I have always enjoyed working, for many reasons. But I get more personal satisfaction and fulfillment from software development than I have from any other job or career I have experienced.
I am currently working as a PHP developer here in Chattanooga, TN (so beautiful!), where I have lived most of my life. My wonderful wife Karina and son Landin are the joy of my life and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. Look, here they are!
They will hate being on the internets, but that’s part of being my family now I guess. This is us at Christmas this past year. One happy family. But enough about that. Let’s talk about why I started this blog…
It’s very simple. Every developer should have a blog. Why? Many reasons. Public exposure. Demonstration of skills. A forum for a portfolio. But for me, it’s more about sharing my experiences and having conversations. My path to becoming a developer was an unusual one, an uncommon one. And not an easy one. But very much worth it.
I will leave you with this final thought today, as I’m tired, and Game of Thrones is on…
Never, never, never give up.
Until next time.
